Leadership Refuel - What will your leadership leave behind? (2016)
https://youtu.be/m0T5uLHUjaU
...so where did Trump lead us?!
During this refuel, we attempted to spark a conversation using the American Presidential election (to check out our teaser click here).
A little to our surprise the reaction we were half expecting, didn’t eventuate. Instead the community acknowledged the event, but swiftly moved on to explore leadership in terms of “why” we do things – and how we as leaders either continue with the accepted norms or decide to reject them.
In our brief thought exchange regarding Trump, one point became clear, despite the negative aspects of Trump's campaign there is a clear view of the people that he has listened to them – these potential followers weren’t happy with the ‘norm’ and wanted change. When someone decided to stand for what the followership wanted, that person was then chosen to be their leader.
During the remainder of the evening we discussed what it meant to be a leader that could successfully guide a followership out of the status quo and into new unchartered territory…. Principles Based Leadership.
Through Principles Based Leadership we demonstrate our values, Principles Based Leadership is walking the walk and is the aspect of leadership that builds and sustains the trust of our followership.
An insight shared by a TLF community member, was ..."for Trump, he now has an enormous challenge to change from what he is perceived as by many, into the leader his is perceived to be by few".
I would ask, are many of us not in that same position?!
Thanks for a great session, Ben

The Leadership Foundation @ Innovate Ipswich (2015)
TLF CEO, Ben Baldwin and son, Eddie Baldwin attended "Innovate Ipswich" - Meet Up meeting at the Brookwater Golf & Country Club, where Eddie met Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale and told Paul all about his business idea. It was fantastic to see fearlessly talk to grown-ups about his idea, a number of people have offered to help Eddie with it and many are keen to follow his progress. He doesn't realise he has a followership :)

The Leadership Foundation - 'Inaugural Event' (9th May 2015)
We had a fantastic showing at our Inaugural Event this last Saturday. We had 40 people from across Brisbane, different industries and varying stages of career pathways. The response has been positive and supportive, Ian and I are very encouraged and we are currently organising another introductory event and a follow up event.
Below are some photos from our first event - forgive me, photography isn't my strong point!
Thank you to Morgan Stanley and the Qld State Library for their support as well as to all the participants. We look forward to walking our leadership journey's with you.
